18" x 24" Letterpress Print
This is a special, two-color limited edition letterpress print of Chicago. Letterpress is a manual printing technique not changed much since the mid-15th century and the Gutenberg press: a raised surface is cut onto the printing plate, which is inked and then pressed into a sheet of paper to obtain a positive right-reading image. By using gorgeous, thick 110 lb cotton paper, the raised letters leave a beautiful impression on the paper. And because this is a manual process, unlike modern laser or offset printing, each print is unique since the ink and paper interact differently with each pressing.
We offer here a limited run of 50 prints in blue text on Crane’s Lettra, 110lb cover Pearl White (100% cotton paper). Printed by Angel Bomb Design in Minneapolis, MN.
Each print is signed and numbered and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The map is based on place names and geography as they appear in Open Street Map, with special inclusion of Chicago's famous 'L' train system.
