Austin Typographic Framed Poster

This map accurately depicts the streets and highways, parks, coastlines, and physical features of Austin, TX using nothing but type. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete.

It shows the central Austin area, with the state capitol (marked by a star) and The University of Texas-Austin in the center of the map. These are framed on the west and east sides by MOPAC Expressway and Interstate 35 in bold purple letters. Interchanges ("Ramp") and major bridges are represented accurately. Just to the south of downtown lies Lady Bird Lake. This is flanked by the popular Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail as well as a number of natural areas and parks including Zilker Park, Lamar Beach, Butler Shores, Auditorium Shores, and Festival Beach.

The map is based on place names and geography as they appear in Open Street Map.
